Brain cancer is one of the deadliest diseases, which happen to mankind. Usually brain cancers may grow very quickly. This may sometimes grow in size and might damage the brain tissues.
Normally brain tumors can range from small to bigger ones.
Few brain tumors will give you symptoms and some may not. Without any symptoms they will grow faster and attain their peak.
There are more than 120 different types of brain tumors, here i would like to give information about most common brain tumors or cancers. Not all brain tumors will kill humans. There are few brain tumors which gives us a 50/50 chance.
Meningioma:
Meningioma is the most common brain tumor that happens to humans. Roughly 30% of total brain tumor cases are due to meningioma. Usually a meningioma tumor starts to grow in the central nervous system. It grows either in the brain or spinal cord.
Meningioma tumors has around 3 grades
Grade 1 : At this grade meningioma will start to grow at a very low stage. Which is considered as the first stage of the tumor
Grade 2 : At this stage, even if we remove the tumor there are chances that it might grow again in the same place.
Grade 3: One of the dangerous meningioma tumors in malignant (cancerous). This tumor will be very fast growing and rid of your brain.
The recent survey says that 85% of meningiomas are not cancerous, but we cannot guarantee that after removing the tumor, it won’t come back.
Pituitary Adenoma:
This cancer is usually generated from anterior pituitary. As a matter of fact pituitary adenoma is a kind of slow growing tumor. Almost 90% of pituitary adenomas are not considered as cancer, but if we didn’t treat them well there are high chances that it might give us serious illness.
Since it grows in the pituitary gland, the damages on the gland will damage other nerves of the brain.
There are 4 stages of pituitary tumor
Stage 0 - Appearance of pituitary adenoma
Stage 1 - At this stage the tumor will be at 10mm size, so the tumor will be inside sella turcica and microadenoma
Stage 2 - At this stage the tumor will grow more than 10mm which will be away from microadenoma dna turcica
Stage 3 - The tumor will grow beyond 20 to 30 mm which enters the anterior of the ventricle
Stage 4 - At this stage the tumor will be larger than 30 mm and grow beyond lateral extensions.
Finding Tumor is the first option to diagnose cancer. At this stage you need a minimum of 32 to 64 slice CT scanners to capture the tumor images.
Radolabs Scan Centre Chennai offers you this CT scanning at a very affordable price.
Craniopharyngiomas:
It’s one of the rarest brain tumors till now, it usually appears in pituitary gland and hypothalamus. Craniopharyngioma is basically not a cancerous tumor. If we remove it, chances of re-growth is null and it will spread across other parts of the brain.
Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma tumors mostly occur in children and on the other hand Papillary Craniopharyngioma mostly occurs in adults.
As per the doctor's note there is no standard staging for Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma
It’s just 1 stage cancer, which forms as a solid one in the pituitary gland and hypothalamus.
Here are the common symptoms of Craniopharyngioma
Headache
Endocrine
Dysfunction
Visual Disturbances
Schwannoma:
Schwannoma is a rare tumor condition, which forms in the nervous system. Schwann cells are the major cause of schwannoma tumors. Schwannoma are benign (non cancer). We cannot guarantee that they might not become a cancer tumor. In rare cases it might become one.
Schwannoma tumor not only forms in the brain, it might go to every part of the body including the leg.
Though it is not cancerous, it can damage the nerves and nerve cells as well.
Since schwannoma is not a cancer, we don’t have staging for that. Rather than that we use development period
Period of Development
Diagnosis
Treatment
So literally there is only one stage.
CT Scan is the only option we have to detect and diagnose these tumors. On the other hand CT scans have the capability of finding which blood vessel is feeding for the tumor.
Since CT scans can provide images, it can give you accurate results of the internal organs. The clarity of CT scans are very important for that you atleast need 32 to 64 slices. If you don’t have more slices there are high chances we may not give your
On the other hand Brain cancers or tumors are captured through Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). After finding the cyst or tumor, we can find out the tissue through biopsy or surgery.
Germinoma
Germinoma is a rare condition tumor found in the brain. Most of the time this tumor comes only in the brain and sometimes this tumor can migrate to reproductive organs as well. Germinomas are basically malignant i.e, cancer.
They are central nervous system germ cells, the majority of time they can be cured. In other cases this type of cancer in children’s survival rate is around 90%, which comes in Stage I and Stage II. On the other hand the survival stage in adult body is around 87%
Majority of cases, this cancer is grown during fetal development, that’s the reason most of the time the cancer is developed among children.
Here is a list of other brain cancer types: Choroid plexus tumors, embryonal tumors, germ cell tumors, pineal tumors, meningiomas, nerve tumors, pituitary tumors and more…..
Conclusion:
Early Detection saves lives. In the case of brain tumor, we can come to the conclusion whether the tumor is cancerous or non cancerous. We must act fast too, detect early and diagnose early. To find the early detection, we must either choose CT Scan or MRI scan.
On the cost perspective, a normal MRI brain scan starts from Rs 3000 to up to Rs 50,000. Radolabs MRI opens for more than 15 hours. If you want to do the findings then we offer scans at an affordable price.
