A film or video editor is responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product that's suitable for broadcasting. 4. Creating a 'rough cut' (or assembly edit) of the programme/film and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages
5. Reordering and tweaking the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video
6. Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and video engineering and editing
7. Experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements
8. Writing voiceover/commentary
9. Suggesting or selecting music

While there is no specific path to becoming an editor, most video editors have a bachelor's degree in an area such as film studies.
