File Clerk is responsible for maintaining a company’s records. He codes, files, and retrieves records as needed and ensures system is well organized.

3. Retrieve files as necessary;
4. Manage all databases and records;
5. Create new entries as needed;
6. Fax and photocopy files;
7. Process and scan files to be entered into computer in digital database;
8. Work with electronic storage media, such as hard drives, floppy drives, and CD-ROMs;
9. Use scanners to convert forms, receipts, and reports into electronic format;
10. Ensure no materials in file are lost;
11. Be able to explain filing system to others.

Qualifications and training required:
There are no formal education requirements to become a file clerk, but most employers prefer job candidates who have at least a high school diploma or its equivalent. Most of the knowledge needed to become a file clerk is learned on the job. On-the-job training may include filing practices and procedures. Trainees also learn filing systems and other guidelines specific to their employer.
