An event organizer or event planner is responsible for all facets of planning, organizing and following through on all meeting, convention or event messaging and logistical details. The event planner oversees everything from high level theme and messaging communication to the practical logistics of ordering all the services and products involved.
Event organisers tend to work with a range of clients across the public sector, private sector and third sector. However, some event organisers may work in-house for large multinational corporations, while others work on a freelance basis.

Tasks:

1. To find out clients’ event needs and special requests.
2. To conceptualise and plan events.
3. To organise events in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
4. To select and prepare venues.
5. To manage staff and coordinate the supply of necessary equipment and other services.
6. To liaise with PR and marketing department to promote the event
7. To create a brand for the event and produce tickets, posters, catalogues, and sales brochures, and more.
8. To oversee the event dismantling and cleaning of the venue
9. To prepare post-event reports, including analysis

Qualifications and training required:

There are no specific education requirements for an event planning career. However, a bachelor's degree in communications, hospitality, or business can help a lot. Experience in the field is a very significant aspect. Most employers prefer hiring organisers with primary planner or coordinator experience in at least two events.
